Master Lock August 22, 2010 Sleddogdad (Wi, USA) Excellent hitch that does the job. I got the Master Lock interchangeable ball with this. I can now change the configuration with the easiest of ease. Great product, very versitle. I have used this for 3 years now and love it.
It's not perfect, but it's perfect. July 29, 2010 Glenn E. May (Central Massachusetts) Well, where to start?
I have been reading the reviews listed on the Master Zero Tilt Ball Mount. I own this hitch, and have for 2 years now. I also have attached to it the Master 3 ball interchangeable set. I am going to attempt to help clarify some people's impressions of it.
This is a light / medium duty hitch. The below list is my trailers, and which I tow with it.
With Master Hitch
6'x12'x5' Enclosed
5'x9'x2' Enclosed
4'x8' Open
8'x23' Open
Jayco 1206 Pop-up Camper
14' Aluminum Boat
15' fiberglass Boat
With specialty Hitches.
25' Enclosed car trailer
25' Enclosed Ultralight Airplane trailer
35' Camper
Now. to break this down. Obviously, I tow a fair amount. probably more than most casual folks do. I have 2 vehicles which I tow with. a 2005 Ford Expedition, and a 2004 Ford F350drw. I have used this hitch in both vehicles, repeatedly and with the above trailers repeatedly. I have even gone as far as to town the 25' Ultralight airplane trailer with it.
It works. bottom line. I have a combination of this, and the Master triple ball set. It works awesome for swapping trailers as often as we do.
Now, for the bad. yes. It's a light / medium use hitch. States that there is a 350lb tongue weight 3500lb tow rating. It can be difficult to adjust if you have the tongue weight too high. It is noisy (There is a moving part or two)
All in all, it's not for everything. If you only have a trailer or two, then I would say it is probably a waste of money. if you have multiple as I do, then I would say that it's ideal. If you DO go for it. Go ahead and add the Master 3 ball set to go with it. The combination means you can tow nearly anything within the hitches limits without question.
So This gets a very high rating for versatility and usefulness. Not so high for capacity. but they don't advertise that.
Hopefully this clears up some of the animosity on the hitch, and hopefully will allow for those who can use it to buy it and those that need something else to buy that as well. I never liked wasting money.
Horrible, DO NOT BUY! July 2, 2010 Duke You'll tear up your transmission with this hitch. Good 3/4" slack that will jerk you and vehicle while towing. Had to stop on first trip and buy a standard non-adjustable mount at local store as I couldn't even take it for another hour. Concept good, execution failed.
It Is What It Is June 8, 2010 J. Revilla Like the title states, this product does what it claims to; adjusts the rise or drop as needed within its range. However, if you need just a short rise be aware of what another reviewer states; the excess that "hangs" may be an issue for a lower vehicle. That's not on the product, just physics. If you need a short rise you're probably better off with a flipped over bar type however, I have a trailer with a higher than normal tongue height so this was exactly what I needed. I only wish that the tolerances were a bit tighter as it does "flop" around a bit. It works though.
Not infinitely adjustable March 22, 2010 Fishing101 (Wisconsin) The description says infinitely adjustable between 7-3/4" drop to 6-1/4 rise. It is not. Description should read: Adjustable between 3-3/4" to 7-3/4" drop and between 2" to 6-1/4" rise. It is not adjustable or able to be set between the 2" rise and the 3-3/4" drop. If you know you will be out of that non adjustable range then it is a good hitch to vary the height of your ball hitch. If you load your vehicle/trailer and end up in the unadjustable zone with your trailer not level or the not the right tongue weight, it is not worth anything.
